Core programs refer to nuanced, subtle, or all-encompassing abilities which cannot easily be classified under other categories. Cloaking- This ability allows the user to turn invisible, hiding their presence. This can be used to flee from a battle, or stalk prey. For the victims of such a method, they can be rendered completely helpless as they are torn apart. However, each additional pair of eyes makes this more likely to be detected. As a result, it is recommended to bring companions with you if you feel it is a risk. Distributed Nerves- This ability removes vulnerable nerve systems from the user, ensuring that limbs and organs can’t be disabled by precise blows. Even severing the spine will have no effect, as the distributed nervous system can easily bypass such injuries, leaving the user vulnerable only to being totally pulverized, exsanguinated, or otherwise utterly destroyed, though decapitation will still prove fatal. Detection- Detection is an ability that grants the power to sense entities even behind walls or otherwise out of sight. Organic life detects as pink, machines as blue, hardlight as white, bio-uploads and cyborgs as red, hybrids as yellow, and synthetics as purple. LSR-size creatures are marked as 1, MDM as 2, HGE as 3, GNT as 4, and TTN as 5. Restoration- Restoration is a rare program, and one of niche utility. Hybrids and Synthetics are durable things. Even as a corpse, so long as the head is intact, this program can revive them. Whether or not what comes back is a copy or the true self, as if awakening from a dreamless sleep, is the subject of much debate. But the fact is that to the rest of the world they are indeed back, for better or worse. Clouding- Clouding creates a dense fog of nanomachines in the area, greatly reducing the effectiveness of ranged weapons and massed formations. Clouding is often used as a prelude to a charge from melee fighters. Battle Sense- A passive skill that allows the user to enter a martial trance, increasing their effectiveness when fighting multiple enemies at once. Cortical Stimulation- A skill that removes the need to sleep for 10 days, but with a 10 day cooldown after. Good for times of extreme need when workloads must be doubled. Reserve Power- A skill that removes the or drink to sleep for 10 days, but with a 10 day cooldown after. Good for times of starvation, but there’s still a deadline. Reparative Nanites- These nanomachines allow the user to repair themselves. While simply preventing death is easy, regenerating limbs is rarer. Other ways to do so exist, but only these techniques can heal in the middle of battle. They cannot be used on others, however, relying on intimate knowledge of one’s body’s own functions to work as they do.
