1. This is a mod built with the understanding that the player is basically familiar with how to play Dwarf Fortress. Though I do my best to provide clarity with my instructions, if I tried to explain everything from the ground up it would take hundreds of pages. I encourage you to consult the DF wiki as often as you do anything here. If you're unfamiliar with the game and choose to start your experience with this mod, it may be a more challenging or frustrating experience for those starting out.
2. I regularly push the boundaries of what modding tools allow and run into obscure edge cases all the time that only get discovered when one of my players reports them. I do my best to keep everything functional and bug free but at the end of the day these kinds of extreme overhauls can come with unexpected problems. As an aside, this is also my first foray into HTML and there may also be errors on the website. I'll do my best to correct those too!
3. It is and will almost certainly remain in ASCII. A graphical conversion is simply not possible for a solo creator like me considering the breadth of content in the project, or at least not in any timescale I am comfortable with. However, I consider the medium to be the mod's greatest strength; I am not limited by the constraints of graphical depictions, allowing thousands upon thousands of unique creatures to be created, improved, and fixed as needed without the need to give each one a sprite or model, something which would exponentially increase dev time.
I understand ASCII can be intimidating, and for those who find it so, I recommend playing the vanilla game with graphics for awhile and then switching to ASCII. The trees, creatures, buildings, and so on will all stay in the same places. Over time, you can build up an understanding of the visual language of ASCII using the graphical counterpart as a rosetta stone, to the point it's like you don't see it at all. I encourage this not just for my own mod's visibility, but for all the other cool mods you'll now be able to experience, or even create!
